Onyx
Onyx is the stone I chose for my first class ring even though I was not born under the Zodiac sign of Leo.
So, why didn't I get Topaz? - You guessed it, I am a December baby. - It is because it is the only stone I can be sure that it is a real. As you can see, I like only the real stuff even back then.
I like the color black. Onyx has such a jet black color. It is mysterious yet elegant.
Onyx's rich and glistening black color is often used in fashion to compliment the outfit.
The name onyx comes from the Greek word onux, which means fingernail. The fingernail mentioned here is the fingernail from the Goddess Venus. Her nails were cut by a cupid while she was sleeping one day. He scattered the clippings on the sand. In order for the nail clippings of the heavenly being not to perish, fate turned them into stones.
The traditional properties for onyx are self-control, decision making, intuition, recognition of personal strengths.
It is the zodiac stone for Leo (July 23 - August 22).
It is the 7th wedding anniversary stone.
